Saturday, March 24, 2012 Sam Houston Park, 1100 Bagby, Downtown Houston

Since 1986, the Houston Bar Association has raised over $941,000 for THE CENTER and the goal this year is to raise over $60,000 to break the $1 Million mark. Please join us in continuing to support this worthwhile cause by participating in the 8K race, the children's run or the 1-mile family walk.

1-Mile Children’s Run 7:30 a.m.
8K Wheelchair Division 7:50 a.m.
8K Run 8:00 a.m.
1-Mile Family Walk 8:30 a.m.

RETURNING! Race registrants receive Tech T-Shirts with entry.

RETURNING! Adopt a Walker from THE CENTER! Support the participation of residents from THE CENTER by paying the entry fee for a resident to join the 1-mile walk. The cost is $25 per walker, which also includes a Fun Run t-shirt, race packet and the opportunity to win prizes in special drawings. Check the appropriate box on the individual or team entry form.

2011 Speaker is Cody Carlson

Former Houston Oiler quarterback from 1988 to 1994

Cody and his family now live in Austin, Texas. On January 5, 2003, Cody and his wife Barbara received an unexpected phone call from their adoption agency that the baby they were expecting had been born – six weeks early. Their son, Isaac, was born disabled due to the premature delivery. Isaac turned nine years old on January 5, 2012, and his first nine years have been a humbling yet extraordinary experience for the Carlsons. The personal strength and energy they have found to raise and nurture Isaac, and the inspiration given to them by his growth, have been life-changing. We are thrilled that Cody has agreed to share his experiences with us.

Help The Center continue to be a powerful resource in providing the quality of life that can be attained by persons with intellectual disabilities.
